THE WORLD IN THE BASEMENT – LUCKY 13

We were very excited to have played at The Basement, 7 Macquarie Place, joined by some special guest musicians on the night.

iHearMusic.com represented our 13th gig in The World in The Basement series. The format of the gigs was to showcase three or more artists performing different genres of music. The gigs are likened to mini-festivals. Since June 2011 the iHearMusic.com gigs have gained a reputation for being 'All About The Music'. Through the mutual love of music, both audience and artists are taken on an unexpected exploration across different genres of music.

Album launched at Notes

Wednesday 16 November

“Alchemy made musical gold when they launched their enchanting debut album - One thing leads to Another, on the 16th of November at Notes Live, in Sydney’s bustling and bohemian Newtown. Alchemy performed to a full house on the night, and showcased nimble, tasteful musicianship allied with impassioned song writing.  All the while Julie-Ann’s haunting, soaring vocals lifting the entire band, and crowd, to a sublime place”.  The music resists easy categorisation, and at times brings to mind the legendary folk artists from the halcyon 1960s and ‘70s, such as Joni Mitchell, Sandy Denny, Tim Buckley and Fred Neil.  At other times - Emmy-Lou Harris and Eva Cassidy, as well as recalling the great blue-eyed soul singers ……Jackie de Shannon, Dusty Springfield".
“Julie-Ann and Willow were joined on stage by some very special guest musicians (including Midnight Oil’s legendary Jim Moginie on keyboard and piano accordion) to helm the songs and audience on an intimate and soulful journey”.
Alchemy would like to thank all those who were there to share such a special evening of music, your energy and support was much appreciated.

To create ‘Alchemy’ and the new album, Julie-Ann has again teamed up with Gypsy Rose lead guitarist, John ‘Willow’ Williamson, and is very excited with their new identity.  To produce and engineer the tracks, they sought the expert assistance of the widely-respected Moginie, and the trio’s work deftly charts nuanced and inspired aural landscapes. Tamworth Music Festival 2012

Sunday 22 January 2012

Alchemy performed on the Touchwood stage, located in Greg Norman Drive, at the Tamworth Country Music Festival on Sunday 22 January.

Tamworth in January is hot, it's casual, it's stars and Golden Guitars, it's happy crowds, it's tents and caravans, it's easy going camaraderie .. "g'day mate and where are you from?", it’s concerts and shows, it's buskers, it's folding chairs, big hats and eskies. When its over, and you're heading down the highway to Croydon, Cremorne or Camooweal, there's the feeling that it will be good to get home again for some peace and quiet after 10 days of continuous music!

White Hart Hotel, Murrarundi

Saturday 21 January

Alchemy will then be dropping in to do a few sets at The White Hart Hotel at Murrarundi, on Saturday 21st January at 2pm!!

As Alchemy dust off their cowboy boots, and head up the highway to perform at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, they will begin their "Touchwood Tour" at The Bellbird Hotel at Bellbird (near Cessnock), on Friday 20th January, at 7pm!!

Yamba Bowling Club, Yamba

Wednesday 25th January - Australia Day Eve at 7pm!!

After performing at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Alchemy will then continue their "Touchwood Tour" and head to the blue ocean shores of Yamba, to play at the Yamba Bowling Club on Wednesday 25th January - Australia Day Eve, at 7pm!!
